Melia White House, Regents Park

I am the kind of person who is always looking for any excuse to book and research a hotel for a weekend break. For me the research is almost as fun as the stay.

So what do I look for? Thanks to living in Dubai and working with Hotel groups such as Armani Hotel, The Waldorf Astoria Group and Jumeirah I have become obsessed with opulent bathrooms, and huge decedent beds. The hotel needs to also have cute breakfast spots, a gym and a bar which appeals to the residents of the area and not just hotel guests.

The Melia White House in Regents Park successfully ticket all my boxes, and I couldn’t book soon enough. The reason for the visit was to celebrate with a weekend in the city for my partner’s birthday. I have to admit that coming from Dubai the land of 7 Star resorts I have been slightly spoilt when it comes to hospitality and customer service. However the staff at the Melia didn’t fall short of my Dubai expectations. After a long night at the theatre we returned to our room to find his and her bathrobes and matching birthday cheese cakes, which was a very nice touch and much needed after the wine.

The rooms are very comfortable and are the perfect blend between traditional and luxurious. What I loved most of about the room was actually the bed, as I can be a very fussy sleeper but managed a great night sleep here.

One of the best things about the White House is the incredibly sexy and opulent bar DRY MARTINI. It really does look like the kind of bar you would expect to find James Bond sipping one of his martinis at. The outdoor part of the bar is also not be missed, though I do have to admit that we only sat inside due to the cold weather and mainly due to the fact that I haven’t really adjusted to the British winters just yet. One of the reasons I have such a soft spot for this hang out is that is serves shisha. Another Dubai guilty pleasure that I have struggled to indulge in back in the UK as most shisha places are not glamorous and can be full of old men. DRY MARTINI however had me reminiscing of the glamorous outdoor shisha bars of downtown Dubai where everyone smoked in beautiful designer frocks. Once the weather warms up a little bit you can be sure I will be found on this terrace with my mint shisha and YLS tributes gossip with my best friend.

I have stayed in other Melia resorts before but I have to say this property definitely brought the Melia brand back on to my travel radar. Melia also have another 5 star property in London called the ME London which is bang in the middle of the theatre district. Something I am considering next ….

With love and lilies from the Melia White House
